Phones and Devices Optimized for Microsoft Office Communicator

There is a lot of devices for OCS right now, and I have tested a lot of them, and must say that the ones i have tested are working fine, But some of the headset that can connects to both your PC and your mobile phone, some of my customers having some minor problem getting this “dual mode” working every time. (yes, I like cabel connected devices) and please don’t use Non certified devices, you will only get unsatisfied users

One device I like to see is a wireless DECT device, i know that COMO is for mobile users and you need PC software based Voip like Communicator, but in some companies you need this wireless DECT phone, and they are out there, but only working with SIP trunk against a PBX or voice gateway, but then you won’t have presence information. This needs to be a OCS endpoint.

I like to see GN DIAL 520 OC USB phone or Plantronics Audio 1100M Phone as Wireless DECT OCS endpoint :)

How to customize voice prompts or music files for dial-in audio conferencing in Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2

Office Communications Server 2007 R2 does not support customization of voice prompts and music. For example, you cannot replace default media files that play while conference participants are on hold with your own recorded welcome message or with music that you select. Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Conferencing Attendant cannot control a customized audio file to make sure that the workflow for the conference participant logon functions correctly for dial-in audio conferencing. If you have a strong business need that requires you to change the default voice prompt or music file, you can follow the steps in this article to customize the media files.

OCS PIC problems

"In the real life :)" a lot of my customers have this problem regarding PIC connection especially against MSN and Yahoo, there is connections problems.

Now I have found that other bloggers has seen the same problem, and this must be a capacity problem on the MSN and Yahoo servers.

Then I was glad to see that Microsoft has posted this on the UC Blog, MSN is doing something about it, by expanding server capacity.
